Scope:

Client desired a detached garage in a tight side yard that would also house a home office. The area wasn’t sufficient in size to accommodate a fully enclosed garage so we suggest a partially open air carport. Having only two sides open would still offer some more protection from the elements and harsh pollen season so the client was pleased with the concept. We decided to raise the office slab up to meet the same elevation as the finished floor of the main home and this enabled us to design the office such that it “floated” over a reflection pool and embraced the backyard. The raised walkway connecting the home to the carport and office also added a nice transitional space to connect the two structures.
